Tlačenica.sk Turns One: More Than 4,500 Photos on Paper

One year ago, on August 14, 2025, we launched Tlačenica.sk. It grew out of a simple idea: to bring photographs from phones and computers back to where we can truly enjoy them – on paper.

My name is Štefan Húska, and alongside programming, I am also passionate about photography. Tlačenica was born from the natural combination of these two fields. I wanted to create a photo printing service that combines simple ordering and fast processing with a personal approach and high-quality printing. While standard photo services can take up to seven days to process an order, at Tlačenica we can prepare photos for personal pickup in as little as two hours while paying close attention to the quality of every print.

Our First Year in Numbers

During our first year, we printed more than 4,500 photographs at Tlačenica.

The most popular format was the classic 10 × 15 cm size. This comes as no great surprise – it fits perfectly into albums, frames and boxes of memories, and for many people it remains the quintessential photo format.

But we do not see these numbers as prints alone. We see family albums, weddings, birthdays, trips, children’s first steps and photographs given to grandparents. Every order reminds us why printed photographs still have a place in the digital age.

What We Added During Our First Year

Tlačenica has gradually grown since its launch. We made it possible to place orders without mandatory registration, making the journey from selecting photos to completing an order as simple as possible.

We also added delivery through Packeta, ID photo printing and the digitisation of older photographs.

We began offering event photography, which gradually led to the creation of a separate feature called Shared Galleries. Anyone can create their own gallery, share it using a QR code and allow others to upload their photographs. This makes it useful not only for weddings and concerts, but also for group trips, holidays and family celebrations.

ID photos were actually an unplanned addition. When people began finding Tlačenica through Google Maps, search engines and even answers generated by AI tools, they started ringing our doorbell to ask whether we also provided photographs for various cards and permits – such as train or bus passes, firearms licences or disability cards. As these questions kept coming up, we decided to add the service to our offering.

What Our First Year Taught Us

Building a high-quality photo printing service is not just about launching a website and turning on a printer. Every photograph involves countless details – accurate colours, cropping, aspect ratios, suitable paper, print settings, packaging and safe delivery.

These details often proved more challenging than we had initially expected. At the same time, they taught us that nothing should be rushed when printing photographs. The quality of the result is shaped by the entire process, from uploading the file to the moment the customer holds the finished photograph in their hands.

We also learned that everyone uses photographs a little differently. Some people regularly add new photos to their family albums, others print hundreds of images at once, while some need only a few photographs for a frame. Our job is to make the service pleasant and easy to understand for every one of them.

What Comes Next?

During our second year, we want to continue simplifying the ordering process, improving our existing services and gradually adding features that make sense for our customers.

We do not want to promise major new features before they are ready. What we can promise is that we will continue listening to feedback, paying close attention to quality and looking for new ways to bring even more photographs from screens onto paper.
